Louros is one of the best beaches of Etoloakarnania and the largest in Greece with a length of 16-17 km. It is located 17 km southwest of Neochori and the vast sandy beach is surrounded by vegetation with tamarisk, cedar, laurel and sand lilies. It is also one of the few parts of the country with sand dunes. Parts of the beach are organized with beach bars, sunbeds and umbrellas. Those who want to stay away from loud music and crowds can visit the unorganized parts of the beach and relax under the natural shade of the trees. The coast is sandy and the sea is crystal clear.
The beach constitutes a protected wetland, according to the RAMSAR Convention since 1974, a fact that certifies the uniqueness and the undeniable value of the place as a habitat. It is a landscape of wild natural beauty and the rich fauna of the habitat includes many birds, such as pelicans, storks , wild geese, finches , blackbirds and nightingales. There are also wild horses that live in the wetland of the wider area.
To reach the beach you have to go past Aetoliko, to continue towards Neochori and in a short distance you will find road signs towards the beach.
