Mylopotas beach is located in a bay, just 3 kilometers from Chora, the island’s capital. It is the most organized and by far the most visited beach of Ios, attracting many visitors, especially young crowd, mainly from Northern Europe. It is a large beach with golden sand and crystal-clear, azure waters, very safe and shallow for young kids and non-swimmers. A really delight to swim in among the fishes and fantastic for snorkeling as well.
The beach that looks like a horseshoe from above, is almost 1 km long and its width reaches 70 meters in some places. It is considered as one of the most beautiful beaches of the Cyclades and along with Manganari beach are for sure the most beautiful beaches of Ios.
In Mylopotas all kind of watersports are available and you can find good facilities to enjoy a wonderful day at the beach. It has well-organized areas where you pay for an umbrella, and free parts where you can stake out your part of the sand. Along the main road, there are plenty of cafes, bars, tavernas, hotels, campings and rooms to rent.
Mylopotas can be reached easily by car as it is very close to Chora of Ios or on foot via the path that starts from the center of Chora. Hiking lovers will not need more than 15 minutes to descend to the shore. Alternatively, the island’s bus service is excellent, running regularly itineraries throughout the day. Mylopotas beach is definitely a must when you visit Ios!
