Acharavi old was a village centered around the well in the middle of the site, but now it’s a small town with banks, supermarkets, schools etc.
The old village exists, but it is outside the current center, hidden behind the modern buildings facing the main road, ending in the lanes that lead down to the sandy beach.
There are many taverns, bars and shops here, so much that the locals no longer need to go shopping in the city of Corfu, almost everything can be found in their doors!
Along the coast is a marine park that is aimed at children of all ages, and then the natural sanctuary of Agios Spyridonas, with a lake containing many wildlife, a place of great interest for the naturalist Gerald Durrell, who he stayed here for a short time.
On the mountain of Pantokrator, behind Acharavi is the abandoned village of Periatia, now gradually returning back to life, with some excellent taverns which are necessary for those who made the long distance there!
