Agios Gordios is one of the most popular sandy beaches of Corfu. It took its name from the homonymous church of Agios Gordios, which is built on the beach, in the center of the beach.
Agios Gordios is famous for its beautiful beaches on the west coast, nestled in the roots of a lush mountain surrounded by golden-green olive trees and vineyards, as well as impressive rocky clusters, identical to precious works of art, carved by the hand of a sensitive sculptor, for the village of Kato Garouna, which dominates amphitheatrically on the mountainside.
The gray of the bare rocks, the lush nature, the fine golden sand and the turquoise waters make up an idyllic setting.
On the organized beach of Agios Gordis the shallow waters, ideal for swimming, are crystal clear while the beautiful bay has its natural border in the south, the impressive Ortholithi, a bare rock that emerges through the sea, known from the story of Iakovos Polylas, while at the foot of the mountain, under Panteleimon, Otholithos dominates.
To embrace all this beauty with the eyes, it is enough to climb up to the rock of the Balustro, to the west of the beach, whose panoramic view has been appreciated since ancient times, as it was the observatory, the Vardia, as is the old name for pirate movements on the west coast.
Many are the ones who choose Aghios Gordes for their holiday destination, excited by the wonderful natural landscape. The infrastructures are remarkable and include hotel units, landscaped gardens, tied with the environment as well as many taverns, cafes and bars.
