Potami Beach – Samos island

Potami Beach - Samos island

Potami beach is located on the northeast coast of Samos 3 km from Karlovasi. It extends to a length of about 730 meters and is one of the most famous beaches in the area, but also one of the most attractive in northern Samos. River streams end at the shore, hence the name of the beach. Characteristic of the beach is the small church of Agios Nikolaos with the panoramic view, located just above. Its waters are crystal clear, icy and deep while both the coast and the seabed are covered with pebbles. Behind it rises a hill rich in vegetation.

The beach has a northwest orientation and is not at all protected from the north winds which when blown create very big waves. A part of the beach is organized with a beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas. At a distance of about 1.5 km from the beach there is a river with dreamy waterfalls, which form small lakes and become an attraction for every traveler. On the way to the waterfalls is the church of the Transfiguration, the oldest church on the island which dates from the 11th century.

Access is very easy via the country road that connects Chora with Neo Karlovasi.
