This is a breathtaking, quiet and serene beach, located in the eastern part of the Peloponnese, overlooking the Aegean Sea. The lovely beach lies in a protected bay where the slopes of Mount Parnon fall sharply into the Myrtoon Sea. The beach is stunning: long with thick dazzling white pebbles, on the seabed as well and clear, blue waters. It is always calm at Fokianos but sometimes can be a little breezy which is a blessing if the day is hot. The place is ideal for snorkeling, with lots of sea creatures, fishes and sea shells to examine. It is worth taking a little stall to the left-hand side of the bay to visit the small hidden cove where some fishing boats are moored.
The beach is organized and offers services and amenities, and yet the landscape looks untamed and relatively untouched. There are boardwalks leading down to the sun loungers and the umbrellas. There you can also find a beach bar and a shower on the beach. There are a couple of taverns in Fokianos that offer delicious fresh fish and local dishes and a few lodgings for rent as well.
The drive from Leonidio is about 25km with beautiful views of the Myrtoon Sea. The road is narrow and passes through mountains and by small villages, mostly uninhabited. There is also a gorgeous new road from Fokianos that takes you to Kyparissi and Monevasia.
Fokianos is a hidden gem, combining the blue of the sea with the green slopes of Mount Parnon reaching the sea. Fokianos is definitely the best beach of eastern Peloponnese and one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Although, it is still unspoiled, it has now been discovered and the fear of destroying its authenticity becomes eminent year by year. So, discover this paradise before it is too late.
